Create a shared directory

/Section 4) Accounts, Billing, & Payments /Create a shared directory

A shareable directory between all users of the same group can be created. By default all users under the same account are part of the same group. For example, all users in company ACB Inc., are in the same group “abcincgrp”.

To create a shared directory for the group, each user that would like to share is required to execute the  command “mkshared” at the command line. Note: Each user of the group must execute this command to access the shared directory. Here is an example:

[user01@sci01 ~]$ mkshared
 mkdir: created directory ‘/e/01/groups/abcincgrp’
 Only members of group abcinc may access this folder
 ‘/e/01/user01/Shared’ -> ‘../groups/abcincgrp’
A symbolic link (~/Shared) to the directory is created for you.
The directory "Shared" is now accessible.
